Black Smoke. March 12, 2013

Stood for two hours waiting for the gutsy ballot to be burned. In the photo you can barely see the black smoke: it is center of photo , one inch down from the top. It was an second sight watching the smoke billowing out of the chimney.

The piazza was filled with people looking to Sistine chapel. So far, no Pope.

  1. Fr Frank, hope you were there when Pope Francis appeared for the first time! And I am guessing you like the name he chose. :)

  2. Frank,

We enjoyed seeing you on Channel 7 news on Sunday! You made St Teresa's proud...What a fabulous blessing for you to find yourself in Rome at this special time. We are looking forward to your return.

  3. Hello Fr Frank, it is great to read these posts of yours. I am an Australian from Sydney who met you in Zubiri at the start of the Camino in Spain. I am very interested to read that you were in the Church where the Sant'Egidio community started. After the Camino last November, I stayed with friends in Antwerp Belgium and met some people in Sant'Egidio there and witnessed some of their works. They are a remarkable community.
I have bought some books about them, but the daily prayer book they publish each year seems to be only in Italian or French. I have been trying to contact the Sant'Egidio community in New York to see if they know about an English version.
I hope to be visiting New York later this year to visit some friends there, one of whom I met on the Camino.
If you have any more information about Sant'Egidio, I would be very, very interested in it.
